History:

This manuscript was offered for sale on an EBay auction in November 2006 by a group in New Jersey. They were not clear, knowingly or unknowingly, about the origin of the manuscript. Based on the type of merchandize that they auction, the manuscript is probably pawned to them by a Coptic family in the region. Because of their high reserve amount set at the auction, it was not sold. In a later private negotiation, they agreed to sell it to the Society for a price significantly lower than our maximum bidding price and their reserve price!
